WOW..

Well, looks like we are about to receive the Cruze in hatchback version pretty soon! GM has released and unveiled the Chevrolet Cruze hatchback at the Paris Motor Show, and has recently submitted its trademark filings with the European patent office. The final design looks pretty much like the concept vehicle that was unveiled during the Paris Motor Show, and we will witness the production of a Cruze hatchback that comes with round fog lamps that are installed on the same lower bumpers that you would find on the sedan variant of the Cruze. The headlights and rear lamps are also amazingly distinctive, and if they actually survive production and make it to the roads, we will be blessed with a truly gorgeous hatchback on our roads!

The 5-door hatchback will be constructed with the body-frame integral system (BFI) system that offers stability as well as solidity for the vehicle. You get 400 liters of cargo and luggage space with this vehicle, and also 60/40 split rear seating capability, thus space should not be much of a problem. Design-wise, it is exceptionally dynamic and bold, with sleek lines that make it look good. The sedan version of the Cruze has been granted 5-star NCAP rating for its safe driving quality, and one would expect the hatchback to perform as well as its sedan counterpart in the safety segment.

In reality, in the compact car segment, hatchbacks are doing extremely well, and this is the reason why GM ventured into the hatchback segment with the Cruze. The ability of the Cruze in terms of performance and handling cannot be denied, as it is the current leader in the World Touring Car Championship for both the drivers’ and team championships.
As of now, the hatchback is to be marketed in Europe and also Australia where Holden will be marketing the Chevy under its badge. In other parts of the world, the Chevrolet Cruze hatchback is expected to debut in the near future, but under GM’s original Chevrolet badge. In countries such as China where the Cruze is extremely popular, GM is expected to introduce the vehicle there sometime at the end of 2011. The Cruze hatchback will be released for sale in Europe in mid 2011, and up to now we do not have a clue on the price tag. Personally, I am looking forward to be able to receive this vehicle in Malaysia, as it should provide stiff competition for other hatchbacks in the country.
